The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health, with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, engaged extensively with the Canadian public health community to develop the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 2.0. Core competencies are the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the practice of public health. Alongside the launch of the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 2.0, the NCCMT’s Competency Mapping Tool was developed to help busy practitioners find the many resources that support the Core Competencies. This tool includes over 150 resources mapped to the 64 Core Competency statements.
The purpose of this survey is to better understand how public health practitioners use the NCCMT’s Competency Mapping Tool and to identify how the tool can be improved. The findings from this survey will be used to update the Competency Mapping Tool to better serve its purpose and meet the needs of the Canadian public health workforce.
