About the Career Speaker Fund:
- This funding is intended to help cover the costs of inviting, thanking, or paying speakers brought in to help meet the strategic goal of providing students with more opportunities to explore career options (outside of academia). This has been identified as a high-priority goal by undergraduate students across the Faculty of Social Sciences.
- The intention is to host guests currently in a field of work who can share their experiences with students about that line of work (not speak to theoretical, academic research about the field of work).
- This fund may be used in-course by instructors of social sciences undergraduate courses or by departmental leaders in an extra-curricular context.
- Successful Career Speaker Fund applications will clearly address at least one of the following eligibility categories:
- Career option exploration
- Career readiness
- Transferrable skill development
- Payments, honoraria, and/or other expenditures associated with this fund will follow the Careers & Experiential Guide to Payments developed in partnership with the Social Sciences Finance team.
- Current Careers & EE practice is to set the honorarium at a standard amount of $100.
