Perceptions and Use of Generative AI at McMaster University

This survey is designed to gather comprehensive insights into how members of the McMaster University community perceive and engage with generative AI tools in their academic, research, and professional contexts. It explores both opportunities and challenges associated with generative AI adoption, aiming to inform institutional approaches and practices that are responsive to the evolving needs and priorities of different campus populations.

We value diverse perspectives, whether you are a regular user of generative AI (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude), have limited experience, or choose not to engage with these tools at all.

All individual responses to survey questions are anonymous and will remain confidential. When answering open-ended questions, avoid including any information that could be personally identifiable. Results of the survey will only be reported as aggregate. Your responses will be stored in LimeSurvey and can only be accessed or viewed by designated individuals.

More information about McMaster’s Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI can be found on the Provost’s website.
