This research is taking place as part of the researcher’s Capstone study to fulfill degree requirements as part of the Master of Communications Management program at McMaster University. Research is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Terry Flynn and Dave Scholz.

Purpose of the Study
The proposed study seeks to examine how and to what extent disruptive change is impacting the public relations industry in Canada. It will do so by first determining which changes are most impacting public relations functions in Canada. It will then examine how and to what extent the top identified disruptive changes are currently impacting public relations functions in Canada, and how and to what extent those changes might be shaping future public relations functions in Canada.
Procedures Involved in the Research
You will be asked to identify what disruptive changes is currently most impacting the public relations industry, how you believe it is currently impacting your sector and your professional role, and how it might impact your sector and professional role in the near to medium term.
The survey should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Please note that data for this study is being collected through this survey as well as through interviews with select participants.
Potential Discomforts
You do not need to answer questions that you do not want to answer or that make you feel uncomfortable. You may withdraw from the survey at any time until you submit your responses. The researcher describes below the steps she is taking to protect your privacy.
The researcher also wishes to acknowledge that you may have a personal connection to her through your professional network. Given this professional connection, please do not feel pressure to participate in this study.
Confidentiality
You are participating in this research anonymously. No one, including the researcher, will know that you participated. Once the study is complete, an archive of the data, without identifying information, will be maintained.
Participation and Withdrawal
You may withdraw from the survey at any time until you submit your responses. Once you have submitted your responses for this anonymous survey, your answers will be put into a database and will not be identifiable. This means that once you have submitted your survey, your
responses cannot be withdrawn from the study because the researcher will not be able to identify which responses are yours.

Information about the Study Results
The researcher expects to complete this study by April 2024 and will share a brief summary of the results publicly on her LinkedIn account. The researcher will submit the completed capstone for consideration to future academic and professional conferences.
